Hands-on medical lymphatic massage for lymphedema, pelvic congestion, and post-surgical swelling, performed by a Certified Lymphedema Therapist.
Medical lymphatic massage, sometimes called manual lymphatic drainage, uses light, rhythmic, directional strokes to encourage fluid to move through the lymphatic vessels toward areas that can process it. It is used for the treatment of lymphedema, pelvic congestion, post-surgical swelling and congestion, and swelling related to cancer treatment, including after lymph node removal or radiation. Sessions include an assessment of your swelling pattern and tissue quality, the hands-on work itself, and instruction so you can keep the effect going between visits. For lymphedema that needs ongoing management, medical lymphatic massage is one component of Complete Decongestive Therapy (CDT).
